Lisa Nagle, a founding principal of Elan, and Jaclyn Hakes, Senior Planner, are scheduled to present at the annual 2011 Association of Town’s conference in NYC on February 20th.

Their presentation is entitled “Using Waterfront Revitalization Strategies to Advance Community Revitalization” and will focus on the Town of Wilmington as a case study.

The 72nd Annual New York Planning Federation Conference was held in Lake Placid September 26th to 28th, 2010. Lisa Nagle and Jaclyn Hakes presented a seminar entitled, “Comprehensive Planning: Tackling the Tough Issues.”

The session walked through two case studies that illustrated techniques to identify the tough issues, tools available to conduct targeted research and the use of zoning to implement comprehensive plans.

“Creating effective comprehensive plans requires efficient analysis, meaningful community participation and the development of a plan that contains measurable objectives. The session focused on tackling the tough issues through a thoughtful and comprehensive planning process by providing a discussion of common language and applied tools that can be used for the future of each community. Learn how to evaluate issues such as mining, conservation subdivisions, design guidelines and hamlet revitalization, as well as how to update zoning ordinances to comply with your comprehensive plan.”

AuSable River Regional Plan

Wilmington – For the past year, communities along the AuSable River have been working with consultants, including Elan Planning & Design, to develop a shared strategy for revitalization, economic development, public access and promotion of local waterfronts to spark recreation and tourism in the area.

Broome County has big plans for the Brandywine Corridor in Binghamton.
