Sand Lake Zoning Code Update

Hamilton Links Community to Intersection Study through Website

Elan Planning, Design & Landscaping Architecture of Saratoga, the planning firm chosen to perform the five-way intersection study has created a website for public viewing about Hamilton’s five-way intersection study.

By visiting www.hamiltonintersectionstudy.wordpress.com, people can learn information on the intersection study itself, including community concept alternatives and recommendations. The site also includes photos, the March 24 Open House power point presentation, and a specific section for viewers to leave comments and suggestions.

Landscape Architectural Designer Joins Elan

BlaiseZuzana Blaise joins Elan to further advance the firm’s land planning and site design services. To continue meeting our clients’ goals, Elan hired Zuzana Blaise for site planning support. Zuzana will be an integral member of Elan’s site design team focusing on brownfield and waterfront revitalization, park design and community Main Street enhancement.

Ms. Blaise earned her degree in horticulture and landscape engineering from the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra with a minor in landscaping and landscape planning. She has hands-on experience with horticulture, agricultural exhibitions, and garden design. Jere Tatich, a founding Principal of Elan, said, “We are excited to have Zuzana on board; she brings her dauntless work style to our firm and our clients’ projects.”

Jaclyn Hakes, AICP joins Elan to further advance the firm’s land planning services. Elan’s client list continues to expand. To continue meeting our clients’ goals, Elan hired Jaclyn Hakes as a project manager. Jaclyn will be an integral member of Elan’s community planning team focusing on brownfield redevelopment, waterfront revitalization and corridor planning.

Jaclyn is currently working on the long-term economic plan for the Brandywine Brownfield Corridor Plan. This project entails the reuse strategy of 107 parcels of land in Binghamton, NY. Jaclyn will also guide the Brownfield Opportunity Area Plan for the Owego brownfield nomination study and the Town of Warrensburg Comprehensive Plan and Waterfront Revitalization Strategy.

Prior to joining Elan, Jaclyn was the Principal Planner for the City of Saratoga Springs, dubbed a “City in the Country.” The City’s open space lends itself to Jaclyn’s active personal life style as an avid runner and snowshoer.

She earned her Masters in Urban and Regional Planning (MRP) from the State University of New York at Albany and a BA in Environmental Studies and a BA in Geography from Binghamton University where she was a teaching assistant.

Jaclyn is actively involved with the:

• NY Upstate Chapter American Planning Association
• Capital District Planners Association
• Saratoga P.L.A.N. (Preserving Land and Nature)

Mullins Hired at Elan Planning & Design

Elan Planning & Design is pleased to announce the addition of Nicholas Mullins as a community planner to its staff. Nick Mullins, of Glenville, N.Y., received his Masters in City and Regional Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Nick is a 2008 graduate of the University at Albany, graduating cum laude with Bachelors degrees in both urban studies and geography. He has completed two internships in the planning field, one with a local engineering firm and one with the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority of Atlanta, G.A.

“We are very excited to have Nick join our team of professionals,” said Lisa Nagle, Principal of Elan.

His previous project experience includes work on a transportation and land use study for Van Schaick Island in Cohoes; a traffic impact study for a 2400-unit private development in Lake Luzerne; and a bridge feasibility study in the Town of Lake Pleasant.
