Jaclyn Hakes, AICP joins Elan to further advance the firm’s land planning services. Elan’s client list continues to expand. To continue meeting our clients’ goals, Elan hired Jaclyn Hakes as a project manager. Jaclyn will be an integral member of Elan’s community planning team focusing on brownfield redevelopment, waterfront revitalization and corridor planning.

Jaclyn is currently working on the long-term economic plan for the Brandywine Brownfield Corridor Plan. This project entails the reuse strategy of 107 parcels of land in Binghamton, NY. Jaclyn will also guide the Brownfield Opportunity Area Plan for the Owego brownfield nomination study and the Town of Warrensburg Comprehensive Plan and Waterfront Revitalization Strategy.

Prior to joining Elan, Jaclyn was the Principal Planner for the City of Saratoga Springs, dubbed a “City in the Country.” The City’s open space lends itself to Jaclyn’s active personal life style as an avid runner and snowshoer.

She earned her Masters in Urban and Regional Planning (MRP) from the State University of New York at Albany and a BA in Environmental Studies and a BA in Geography from Binghamton University where she was a teaching assistant.

Jaclyn is actively involved with the:

• NY Upstate Chapter American Planning Association
• Capital District Planners Association
• Saratoga P.L.A.N. (Preserving Land and Nature)
• University of Albany Dept. of Geography Community Advisory Board Member

Elan Planning & Design currently has several planning projects on the boards including the Inter-municipal Waterfront Revitalization Strategy for the five “High Peaks” communities along the Ausable River; the Town of Warrensburg Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan and Community Plan; the Brandywine Corridor Opportunity Area in the City of Binghamton; a Waterfront Revitalization Strategy for Malone including a watershed management plan for the Salmon River; and the NYS Route 50 Southern Gateway project leading into Saratoga Springs.
