On December 8, 2011 the Governor announced funding for projects across New York State. Awarded applications completed by Elan include:

Lake George Environmental Park (Warren County)

The Lake George Environmental Park will be a 12-acre park on the site of the former Gaslight Village Amusement Park in the heart of the village. Warren County, the Village of Lake George, and the three “Es” – the FUND for Lake George, the Lake George Association, and the Lake George Land Conservancy formed a parnterhsip to oversee the design and construction of the park. Elan Planning and Design and members of its design team prepared a concept Master Plan that outlines various park components including interactive exhibits that teach visitors about the way water shapes our everyday lives, a festival space for various sized events, nature trails, fitness walks, interpretive signage, an interactive water fountain and playground area for children, a skateboard park, among other elements. To help obtain funding toe complete the park, the project partners hired Elan Planning and Design to prepare two grant applications under NYS’s Consolidated Funding Application 2011 round.

Funding was received from the NYS Department of State and the NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation to advance the Lake George Environmental Park. Funded elements include: permeable asphalt paving along West Brook Road, phase 1 festival space build out including a stabilized turf system; a ‘green’ stormwater solution in the center of the park, two at-grade crossings over West Brook, a park restroom facility and landscaping throughout the park. A total of $381,000 was received from the New York State Department of State and $738,000 was received from the Environmental Facilities Corporation.

The Town of Fort Edward hosted its second public meeting for the Northeast Industrial Reuse Strategy on November 8, 2011. Over 50 people attended a presentation of the draft report including a vision statement, market recommendations for specific industry clusters, and redevelopment concept plans for the ‘uptown commercial area’ on NYS Rt. 4 and the industrial park. The industrial park redevelopment concept plan is centered on the GE Dewatering Facility; one of the largest and most complex environmental cleanups in U.S. history. The intent of the Brownfield Opportunity Plan is to spur investment in the industrial park to create jobs and enhance the tax base in Fort Edward and Washington County. The BOA Plan is being funded through a grant by the NYS Department of State.
